Greg Lynn Williams, 62, of Mooresville, N.C., was escorted to his eternal home on Thursday, November 23, 2023.
Greg was born on July 12, 1961, a son of the late Emory J. Williams and Anna M. (Bricker) Williams Wolgemuth. Greg graduated from Chambersburg Area Senior High School in 1980 and was a member of the Future Farmers of America. He was a member of Bethel Assembly of God in Chambersburg, Pa., where he taught the Rainbows class, the precursor to the Missionettes and Royal Rangers programs.
After graduation, Greg worked at various restaurants in the area, Hillside Poultry Farm, the former Beckner’s Exxon, the former Glasgow’s RV Center, and Keystone RV before moving to North Carolina. After moving, he devoted a lot of his time to the Mooresville Senior High School Band Boosters, helping to run the concessions stand. In 2010, he started volunteering at FeedNC (formerly Mooresville Soup Kitchen). In 2012, he was hired as the Administrative Specialist. Most recently, he worked part-time for the Town of Mooresville in concessions.
Greg loved God, his family, helping others, Southern gospel music, old Westerns, and Diet Coke (extra ice). He touched many lives through his volunteering efforts with FeedNC and the American Red Cross.
He is survived by his wife Sharon S. (Sollenberger) Williams, the love of his life since they were wed on January 26, 1986 (37-plus years); his daughter, Jennifer M. Alexander (husband Jesse “Doc” Alexander); his son, Daniel J. Williams (wife Rachel A. Williams); his granddaughter, Ella Lynn Williams; his brothers, Rodney Williams and Steven Williams; his stepfather, Jan Wolgemuth; and numerous extended family. Greg was preceded in death by his parents and an infant nephew.
A celebration of life service will be held at FeedNC (2456 Charlotte Hwy., Mooresville, NC 28117) on Wednesday, November 29, at 4 p.m. with Pastor Donnie Wise officiating. A second celebration of life service will be held at Bethel Assembly of God (400 Miller St, Chambersburg, PA 17201) with Pastor John Lanza officiating will be announced at a later date by the family.
