Harry Lee Howell, 77, of Harmony, N.C., passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at Wake Forest Baptist Regional Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Howell was born on March 26, 1945, in Davie County to the late Willie and Ellie Howell. He graduated from Davie County High and went on to marry his high school sweetheart, Marlene Jones Howell, and they spent fifty-six loving years together. They shared two daughters, Donna and Tammy.
Harry retired from the North Carolina Highway Patrol and Statesville Auto Auction. He will be remembered as a loving husband, daddy, poppy, brother, uncle and friend. Harry loved spending time with his family and living his life to the fullest. If there wasn’t a fishing rod or the stock of his hunting rifle in his hand, it was on the steering wheel of his tractor or playing rook. Harry was a member of Fairview Baptist Church and loved all his church family.
In addition to his parents, Harry was preceded in death by his brothers, Harley and Kenneth Howell, and his sisters, Coleen Dull and Maxine Hodgson.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Marlene Howell; daughters, Donna Goodin (Tim), and Tammy Elmore (Todd), grandchildren, Kayla Shook (Cody), Matthew Goodin (Ashley), Brandon Goodin (Katie), Nathan, Kenley and Chance Elmore; great grandchildren, Cason and Cade Shook, and Clay and Dawson Goodin. Also surviving are his brother, Gary Howell (Glenda); sisters-in-law, Betty Howell and Julia Howell; brothers-in-law, Leonard Jones (Mary Nell), Dallas Jones (Connie), Nelson Jones (Jane), David Jones (Ruthie); and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, March 20, at Fairview Baptist Church. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 21, at Fairview Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Dr. Scott Eanes and Rev. Paul Hill will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Fairview Baptist Church, 349 Turnersburg Highway, Statesville, NC 28625. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.troutmanfuneralhome.com.
