Helen Mary Lewis, 97, of Harmony, N.C., departed this life on March 29, 2023. She peacefully joined her husband, aka “Pappy,” in heaven to celebrate their 79th anniversary on June 17.

Born on October 17, 1925, in Easton, Pa., she was the daughter of Stanley and Josephine Nekrosius. She was an avid collector of dolls and loved her Facebook time. She was a caring and loving wife, mother, “Nanny,” and one who was loved by all.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Frank Lewis; son, Frankie Lewis; and by her brother, William Nekrosius.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Stan (Bonnie) Lewis, and Jan (Dave) Barnes; grandchildren, Stan Lewis Jr., Tricia (Rick) Wilson, Brian Lewis, David (Jamie) Barnes Jr., Frankie (Ashley) Barnes, Jeff (Danielle) Barnes, and Stacy (Terry) Caldwell; 15 great-grandchildren; four great-great-granddaughters; and her beloved dog, “Sassy.”

A Celebration of Life for the family will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like memorials to be made to the National Down Syndrome Society, P.O. Box 4916, New York, NY 10185.
