Henry Arthur Turner received his Heavenly Wings in the early morning on September 2, 2023. Henry was born and raised in Statesville, N.C. He was the fifth child of eight children to the late John A. Turner and Dousia H. Turner. After a period of declining health, he peacefully entered into eternal life at the age of 82.
Henry graduated from Unity High School in Statesville, N.C. After high school he moved to Greensboro, N.C., to attend North Carolina A&T. He completed his education with a master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin. From there, he went on to a successful career that allowed him to live in several states across the country where he started his family and built a beautiful life.
He loved a great jazz song, cooking incredible barbecue and delicious apple pies, playing board games, solving brain teasers, telling bad jokes and silly one-liners, and savoring a glass of wine, but most importantly he loved his family.
Henry leaves to mourn his cherished memories his daughters, Pam Swindler Robinson of Greensboro, N.C., Monica (Stan) Turner Lee of Upper Marlboro, Md., and Kelly Turner Bivens of Columbus, Ohio ; two brothers; Jimmy (Frances) Turner of Raleigh, N.C., and Lee Turner of Salisbury, N.C.; and one sister, Mildred Patterson of Somerset, N.J..; two grandchildren; Kendyll Lee and Omari Bivens; and two bonus grandchildren, D’Marcus Moore Bivens and Christopher Lee; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
