James Myers Knox, 87, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on Sunday, May 21, 2023, at the S. Mitchell Mack Hospice House in Mooresville.
He was born on March 18, 1936, in Iredell County, N.C., to the late Graham and Mary Elizabeth Purser Knox. Mr. Knox was a veteran serving in the Army National Guard. He worked with Western Electric for 30 years and then worked with his daughter at Landscape Designs Unlimited. Mr. Knox was a member of Fair View United Methodist Church in Mooresville. He was also a member of the Jaycee and Civitan Club. He was always willing to lend a hand to those in his community. Mr. Knox was a vital part of the AA group in Mooresville, hosting camping trips and serving others. He enjoyed camping with the Coffee Cup Campers.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia Stallings Knox; brother, Hollis Knox; and sister, Hilda Ann Stutts.
Mr. Knox is survived by his children, Mark Knox (Julie), Lisa Carver (Bobby), Tracy Lentz (Scott); brother, Frank Knox (Becky Deal); grandchildren, Brittany, Melody, Jennifer, Amber, Josh, Laura, Joe; three great grandchildren; and his special friend, Liz Whitlow.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 25, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 26, at Fair View United Methodist Church with Rev. Nathan Finsel officiating. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.
