James Ted Orren, 87 of Statesville, N.C., died Sunday, February 19, 2023, at his home under the great care of Hospice of Iredell County.

Mr. Orren was born August 23, 1935, in Iredell County and was the son of the late James Boyd Orren and Ethel Putnam Orren. He was a graduate of Troutman High School and honorably served his country in the U.S. Army for three years active duty, followed by 25 years with the N.C. National Guard. He successfully completed 27 jumps as a paratrooper while in the service. Ted retired from JC Penney Distribution Center after working there for more than 30 years. In retirement, he enjoyed working for North Iredell High School and Wilson Security. Ted was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Statesville. He was married to his beloved wife, Betty Ford Orren, who survives.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Orren is survived by his sons, James Mark Orren and John Todd Orren; a nephew, Mike Robinson; and an uncle, Leroy Ford.

A private service will be held at a later date. The family extends their gratitude to the Hospice of Iredell County. The Orrens ask that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Iredell County, 2341 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625.
