James Theodore Sherrill, 84, of Statesville, N.C., passed away Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at Catawba Valley Medical Center in Hickory, N.C.

Mr. Sherrill was born March 9, 1939, in Iredell County, N.C. He was the son of the late Joe Sherrill and Ellie Sipes Sherrill. James was a graduate of Troutman High School and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He was married to his beloved wife, Pauline Sells Sherrill, who preceded him in death. James was a route salesman for Rental Uniform Service and was a member at New Bethany Baptist Church. Some of his favorite past-times were drag racing and classic cars, and he was an avid farmer.

Along with his parents and wife, James was preceded in death by his sister, Irene S. Lackey.

Mr. Sherrill’s life and legacy will be cherished by his son, Tim Sherrill.

The family will greet friends from 12 noon until 1 p.m. Saturday, July 22, 2023, at Troutman Funeral Home. The funeral service for Mr. Sherrill will begin at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel and burial will follow the service at Iredell Memorial Gardens in Statesville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Salvation Army, 1361 Caldwell Street, Statesville, NC 28677.
