Janine Cashion Lentz, 92, of Troutman, N.C., passed away on Sunday, April 2, 2023, at the Citadel of Mooresville, N.C.

She was born March 30, 1931, in Alexander County, N.C., to the late Joseph Edgar Cashion and Christine Benfield Cashion. She was a retired school cafeteria worker at South Iredell High School and Troutman Middle School.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jacob Dalton “JD” Lentz Jr.; a son, Jeffrey Dalton Lentz; a son-in-law, Steven Stinson; and her brothers, Carlton and Clayton Cashion.

She is survived by her two daughters, Marilyn Bass (Dale) of Troutman and Susan Stinson of Statesville; five grandchildren, Christine Neal (Allen) of Cleveland, Ian Lentz of Rock Hill, S.C., Erin Bass of High Point, and Matthew Stinson and Andrew Stinson, both of Statesville; six great–grandchildren, Christopher Neal, Jaedon Neal, Keith Neal, and Kellan Neal, all of Cleveland; Maximus Lentz and Katherine Lentz of Rock Hill, S.C.; and one great-great-grandchild, Nevaeh Neal of Cleveland.

A graveside service will be conducted Friday, April 7, 2023, at 3 p.m. at Stony Point Cemetery, Stony Point NC 28678. The family will receive friends after the service.
