Jennifer Way Gumaer, 66, of Mooresville, N.C., went to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 19, 2023. She was born on August 27, 1957, in Gloversville, N.Y., to the late Earl and Margaret Way.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Karen Hauser and Lynn Voudry, and her brother, Stephen Way.
Following her graduation from Gloversville High School in 1975, Jennifer went on to become an LPN. She then dedicated her working career to being an ophthalmic nurse in the capital region of New York.
Upon retiring, she moved to North Carolina where she worked as a cashier at a local grocery store to “keep herself busy.” There, she would meet her best friend and love Gary, whom she would wed on September 5, 2020.
A lover of the outdoors, Jennifer’s heart was always in the Adirondack Mountains of New York, and the Outer Banks of North Carolina. She loved camping, cooking, and tending to the plants around the house. Jennifer was always joyful in what she did, no matter what the task was.
Of all her accomplishments, none was more important than her role as “Neenie” to her grandchildren. She will forever be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
She will be cherished forever through her survivors, her husband Gary Gumaer; daughter, Sarah Suits and husband Brad of Esperance, N.Y.; son, Shayne Summerfield and wife Kaitlyn of Mooresville, N.C.; stepdaughters, Ammie Raymer and husband Neil of Mt.
