Joe Edward Goodin, 81, was removed from our midst on Monday, October 9, 2023, at Iredell Memorial Hospital in Statesville, N.C., to take his stroll with God through heaven to join the love of his life, Linda Jane Sharpe.
Joe was born on September 6, 1942, and was the youngest of three sons born to the late Thomas and Sarah Jordan Goodin in Statesville, N.C. He graduated from Statesville Senior High School in 1960. On September 3, 1965, he and Linda were married in Statesville.
Joe worked as an insurance agent for many years, starting out collecting debits and working his way to owning an Allstate agency in Stony Point and Taylorsville, N.C. He was a real estate agent and a co-owner of the Rainbow Candle Factory, with his wife Linda, who also assisted him with his insurance agency. Together they volunteered with Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County.
Joe also wore many other hats. He was a member of Gideons International, a layman, and a chaplain at the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office. He was also involved in the prison ministry.
Joe leaves behind two loving sons, David Edward Goodin (Kelly) and Henry Daniel Goodin; three grandchildren, Wesley Eugene (Ashley) of Harmony, N.C., Elizabeth Nicole (Wade) of Oxford, Miss., and Victoria Lynn (Eric), of Statesville; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Margie Goodin; and also Lorie Auton, who was a very close friend and caregiver to both Joe and Linda.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Haywood and Sarah Jordan Goodin; wife, Linda Sharpe Goodin; and brothers, Thomas “Tommy” Haywood Jr. and Johnny Alvin (Shelba) Goodin.
In sure and certain hope of the resurrection to eternal life, we look forward to our reunion with Joe and Linda, and our Heavenly life together forever, where we never grow old, never become sick, and never die.
Without a doubt, Joe is happy to be reunited with his wife Linda.
