Julia Ann Cook Hinson, 81, of Statesville, N.C., went into eternal rest on Tuesday, December 26, 2023, at Gordon Hospice House.
Julia was born on February 7, 1942, in Iredell County to the late George H. Cook and Lucy Troutman Cook. Julia was a member at Mountain Road Baptist Church and worked at Thomasville Upholstery and First Presbyterian Preschool in Statesville. She was a member of the Troutman Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and enjoyed spending her free time gardening and being with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Julia was preceded in death by her husband, James “Jim” Hinson Jr., and brothers, Conrad, Herman, Gene and Allen Cook.
Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, James “Mark” Hinson (Theresa), and John “David” Hinson (Kelly); grandchildren, Jamie (Krista), Zachary, and Meredith, Seth and Holden Hinson; and great grandchildren, Anniston Fulbright, Kierston and Colton Hinson. Also surviving are her brothers, Henry (Gay), Harold and Jerry Cook (Annabell).
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, January 5, at Mountain Road Baptist Church with burial to follow at Iredell Memorial Gardens. Rev. Jamie Fox will officiate. The family will visit with friends one hour prior to the service from 1 to 2 p.m. Active pallbearers will be Jamie, Zachary, Seth and Holden Hinson and Heath and Jerrod Little with Colton Hinson as an honorary pallbearer.
