Kenneth Alvin Reid, 76, was born in Iredell County, N.C., on February 15, 1947, to the late Lewis Allen Reid and Sadie Scott Reid. He departed this life on Monday, November 27, 2023, at his residence in Troutman, N.C.
Mr. Reid attended the Unity High School, Class of 1965. He was employed at Bell South as an installer and repairman. As a youth, Kenneth attended Zion Wesley AME Zion. He later moved his membership to Covenant Cathedral, where he served as an Usher, Worship Leader, Minister, and an Elder.
Mr. Reid, in addition to his wife, Alma Gaither Reid, leaves to cherish the memory of his life a son, Julius D. Scott of Troutman; a sister, Gloria Reid Ramseur of Troutman; brother-in-law, James (Cathy) Gaither of Hickory; sisters-in-law, Edith Dobbins of Harmony, Teresa Gaither of Statesville, Mary Ann “Poochie” (Will) Parson of Harmony, Thelma S. Gaither of Harmony, Barbara Gaither of High Point and Janice Gaither of Statesville; five grandchildren; a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives, family, friends and Class of 1965.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Mt. Pleasant AME Zion Church on Saturday, December 2, 2023, at 1 p.m. Visitation will be from 12 noon until 1 p.m., and burial will follow in the Iredell Memorial Park Cemetery. Flowers may be sent to Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home in care of Kenneth Reid.
