Mr. Kontrel Dive Mayfield, 43, was born in Iredell County, N.C., on June 5, 1979, to the late Donna Marie Mayfield and Arney Torrence. He departed this life on Thursday, January 26, 2023.

Kontrel attended Iredell County Schools, and he was self-employed as a barber. He loved cutting his grandchildren’s hair. Kontrel loved sports, and his favorite teams were the Carolina Tarheels and the Miami Dolphins.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his grandmother, Corene Mayfield.

He leaves to cherish the memory of his life his children, Alexis Jaquary Mayfield, Destiny LaShae Mayfield, Jazlyn Marie Mayfield, and Kontrel Diviest Mayfield Jr., all of Statesville; brothers, Courtney Mayfield and Curtis Mayfield, both of Troutman; sister, Tosura Mayfield of Statesville; aunts, Shelia Mayfield and Rosetta Cherry; grandchildren, Ayden Blackwell, Sean Blackwell, Breylen Blackwell, and Savyah Williams; all of Statesville; girfriend, Shannon Blackwell of Statesville; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, including David Parks.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, at 2 p.m. at Rutledge and Bigham Mortuary, Statesville. The visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home. The family will assemble at 922 Cherry Street, Statesville, N.C.
