Linda Anne Halliday, beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend passed away on March 23, 2023, after a short illness. She was the devoted wife of Jim, loving mother to Andy (Sara Caitlyn) and Kelly, grandma to Emily and James, sister to Maureen (Steve), and Auntie Lin to Kayla (Matt) and Kristen.
Linda was born December 24, 1953, in Bridgeport, Conn., to Ruth and James Farrell. She attended Notre Dame Catholic High School and the University of Bridgeport, majoring in accounting. She became a Certified Internal Auditor and rose through the ranks to become the Deputy Inspector General of the Veterans Administration. In 2015, she completed the Executive Development Program at Harvard Business School in Cambridge, Mass. She retired after more than 30 years of service to our government and the United States. Linda and Jim moved to North Carolina to be close to family and enjoy her retirement on Lake Norman.
Linda was a fun personality who loved to host, to catch up on life’s little details, go on trips with her girlfriends, and plan thoughtful gifts or trips, and she always sent a meaningful message when someone needed it. She was a strong woman who faced every challenge in her life with courage and dignity. She was an extremely thoughtful and a loyal servant of the Federal Government, an honor which she held in the highest regard. Linda was a source of inspiration to all and she will be deeply missed by everyone whose lives she touched.
The funeral service will be held at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home on April 2 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Department of Veterans Affairs (https://www.cdceportal.va.gov/donate_online).
Mom, you will always be in our hearts and we will never forget you. We love you so much. Rest in peace.
