Lorene Rash Johnson, 87, of Statesville, N.C., passed away Thursday, August 31, 2023, at The Greens of Mapleleaf. Mrs. Johnson was born in Iredell County, N.C., on March 8, 1936, to the late Minnie Owens Rash and Charlie Rash. Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her late husband, Melvin Reece Johnson: a son, Donald Lee Johnson; sisters, Lora Kurfees and Margaret Femister; and a brother, Richard Rash.

Mrs. Johnson retired with 40 plus years of service at Brian Center of Statesville. She was a very special beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother and devoted member of Fairview Baptist Church.

Those left to cherish her memory and legacy include her son, David Reece Johnson and wife Elaine of Statesville; two grandchildren, Eric Johnson of Statesville and Joshua Johnson and wife Joni, two great grandchildren, Aidan and Dylan Johnson of Statesville; a brother, Fred Rash of Salisbury, N.C.; and a sister, Mary Benge of Statesville; along with a host of nieces and nephews.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, September 4, at Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Scott Eanes and Rev. Paul Hill officiating. The family will visit with friends following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made Fairview Baptist Church, 349 Turnersburg Hwy., Statesville, NC 28625.
