Mary Emma Schoonover Duncan, 71, of Stony Point, N.C., died Saturday, April 1, 2023, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, N.C.

She was born in Clay County, W.Va., on June 22, 1951, to the late Ralph and Lula Schoonover. She was also preceded in death by a son, Scottie King, and her brother, Johnny Schoonover.

Mary was an Operating Room Technician prior to her retirement and had worked at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center. She was an avid reader, lover of coffee and loved being outside with her fur baby, a Weimaraner named Dixie. More than anything, she loved her family and especially enjoyed her grandchildren visiting her.

Those left to cherish her memory include three sons, Jarrod Duncan (Shanna), Jason Duncan, and Michael Duncan; a daughter, Alice Cart (David); grandchildren, Danielle Cart, Dara St. John, Tyler Duncan, Michelle Duncan, Kaylee Duncan, Brady Duncan, Emilie Duncan, and Hayden Cherry; and two greatgrandchildren.

At her request, there will be no formal services.
