Mildred Cartner Beck, 95, of Statesville, N.C., entered her heavenly home on Saturday, December 9, 2023.

Mildred was born on October 31, 1928, in Iredell County, N.C. She was the daughter of the late Richard Clayton Cartner and Lois (Boger) Cartner. In addition to her parents, Mildred was preceded in death by her husband Harvey Lee Beck and two sons, Tommy and Ricky Beck.

Mildred attended school in Harmony and later worked as a cashier for Walmart for many years until she retired. She was a member of Clarksbury Church, the Christian Woman’s Group, the United Methodist Woman’s Senior Sunday School class, and had been an active member of the Civil Air Patrol.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory two daughters, Kathleen Foster and Frances Daniels (Steve); brothers, Carl Cartner (Margaret), Clinton Cartner (Beverly), and Andy Cartner (Beverley); sisters, Ann Cline, Alice Waugh, and Willa Wootton (John); grandchildren, Tonya Gittins (Lance), Mechelle Trivette, Greg Beck, Shannon Beck, Chad Foster, Lee Trivette, and Shaun Foster; 14 great grandchildren, and two great great-grandchildren.

On Tuesday, December 12, a graveside service will be held at Clarksbury Church Cemetery. Pastor Charles Curtis will officiate the service.
