Minnie Lee Martin, 103, passed away on May 8, 2023, in Huntersville, N.C.
Minnie was preceded in death by her parents, Jeffrey and Beatrice Rucker; her husband, James L. Martin; her son, Harold “B.J.” Martin; her grandson, Richard Martin; her great-grandsons, Richard “Jermaine” Martin, and Antwan Martin; her brothers, B.J. Rucker, Hollis Rucker, and Hassett Rucker; and her sisters, Delaney Holland, and Geneva Moore.
Minnie is survived by her daughter, Jewel Martin Flowers; her grandchildren, Randy Flowers (Everlena), Wayne Martin, Todd Martin (Natasha), Tuesday Martin (Kyle), Teresa Redmond (Craig), Wanda Mundy (Norman), Deborah Williams (Terrence), and April Chambers (Patrick); 21 great-grandchildren; 25 great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Ida Martin; special friends, Larry Hickman, Geneva Gray, Sarah Smith, Gladys Redmond, Michael Everhart, and Sheila Ann Gray; her special “daughter” niece, Opal Stockton; and many nieces and nephews.
Minnie attended Hart County Schools in Hartwell. Ga. She was an entrepreneur, a domestic worker, and worked in the service industry. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, canning, helping others, and watching wrestling. Minnie was a member of Shinnsville United Church of Christ and volunteered at Shiloh AME Zion Church.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2023, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Shiloh AME Zion Church, Statesville, N.C. The funeral service, officiated by Rev. Dr. Betty Graves, will follow at 1 p.m. Burial will be at Belmont Cemetery. A repass will be held after the burial at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home.
