Minnie Nell Stone Roope, 81, of Statesville, N.C., passed away on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at her residence.

Mrs. Roope was born on November 29, 1941, in Wilkes County, N.C., and was the daughter of the late Lloyd Stone and Mary Flinchem Stone. Educated in the Wilkes County schools, she was of the Christian faith. She worked for many years for Statesville Chair Company and Classic Leather until her retirement.

Mrs. Roope loved country music, watching the Grand Ole Opry every chance she could as well as watching TV game shows. Dressing up and going shopping were some of her favorite things to do. She particularly loved to be with her family and prepare them some of her home cooked meals.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Charles Edward Roope, and her brother, V.J. Stone.

Those with cherished memories include her son, Jeffrey Roope, and daughters, Tammy McLaury (Bruce), Risa Medlin (Scott) and Lisa Denham (Dean), as well as her sister, Dianne Muse (George). Also surviving her are her grandchildren, Haley Reitzel (Kurt), Ashlyn Echerd (Nathan), Katherine Medlin, Jessica Medlin and Jacob Denham. Her great grandchildren are Aria Echerd, Avett Echerd and Atlas Echerd.

Visitation will be on Sunday, October 15, 2023, from 2 to 3 p.m. at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home with a funeral to follow at 3 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Mack Mathis, officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
