Mona Lou Shaver, 89, of Harmony, N.C., went to be with her heavenly Father on Wednesday, November 8, 2023.

Mrs. Shaver was born September 17, 1934, in Iredell County and was the daughter of the late Jim Brown and Rose Huie Brown. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Atwell Reese “Buck” Shaver; a son, Larry Dean “Mickey” Shaver; a sister, Mable Gryder; and two brothers, Bobby Brown and Charles Brown.

Mrs. Shaver loved camping in the mountains in her earlier years. She had a green thumb and had a beautiful flower garden. She also enjoyed decorating her home.

Those left to cherish her memory include a daughter, Sandra Handy (Frank) of Harmony; a grandson, Tracy Handy, whom she adored with all her heart; a brother, Huie Brown of Biloxi, Miss.; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, all of whom she loved dearly.

A Graveside Service will be held Saturday, November 11, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Barkers Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Allan Lunsford officiating. The family will speak to friends following the service.
