Nola Speedy Smith, 81, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on Monday, September 25, 2023, at her home.

She was born on September 9, 1942, in New Somerset, Ohio, to the late Charles and Jennie Douds Speedy. Mrs. Smith was retired from EBS Insurance. She attended St. Therese Catholic Church in Mooresville for over 30-plus years and recently attended Berea Baptist Church in Mooresville. She enjoyed growing African Violets, cross-stitching, and boating on the lake with Bob. She was a great cook, especially her homemade noodles and pies. Mrs. Smith loved her family and adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bob” Smith; sisters, Nannetta Householder, Elizabeth Bunner, Norma Areford, Janet Huffman, and Edna Cronin; and brothers, Robert Speedy, Charles Speedy, James Speedy, and John Speedy.

She is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth Cody, and Susan Collette (Joel); stepchildren, Sandra Endicott, Michael Smith, Lynda Woods; brother, Ormand “Pete” Speedy; and 11 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

A Memorial service will be held at a later date.
