Patricia “Pat” Jane Smith Cline, 76, passed away on Saturday, August 5, 2023, at Gordon Hospice House in Statesville, N.C. She was born on May 14, 1947, in Iredell County, N.C., to the late William Horace Smith and Alice Ruth Stewart.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents; and by her husband of 40 years, Sidney Robert Cline.

She is survived by her son, Mark Preston Kimel, and his wife Sandi Garrett Kimel; her granddaughter, Reah Grace Barger; her brothers, Stewart William Smith, and Medford (Ham) Robert Smith; her nephews, Brad Smith and Sterling Smith; and her niece, Crystal Vaughn.

Pat graduated from Celeste Henkle High School in 1965 and was a standout member of the women’s basketball team. She was a member of New Bethany Baptist Church, and she loved to cook and crochet.

She worked at Uniglass and Hunt Pen, eventually retiring from Hunt-Bienfang in 1994.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at 10 a.m. at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with Pastor Bill Mason officiating. Burial will occur at the New Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery, 106 Eufola Road, Statesville, NC 28677.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Pat’s memory to Gordon Hospice House, 2341 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625.
