Paul Eugene Hyde, 80, of Statesville, N.C., and formerly of Buskirk, N.Y., passed away at home on October 22, 2023, with his loving wife by his side. Born April 23, 1943, in Bennington, Vt., he was the son of the late Marion (Frost) Hyde and the late Arthur Hyde and the brother of Arthur Hyde, Judy Kenney (Earl), and Beverly Hyde. Paul honored our country and served in the United States Army. After moving to North Carolina in 2000, Paul worked at Commscope, International Paper, and most recently at Statesville Auto Auction.

In addition to his wife of 33 years, Ann Hyde, he is survived by his three sons, Edward Hyde (Julie), Kevin Hyde (Patti), and Paul Hyde Jr. (Shelby); two daughters, Therese Taft (Michael) and Karen Gatus (John). He is also survived by his three stepchildren, Lisa Mantini (Michael), Michael Desjardins, and Steven Desjardins; and beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Paul was a devoted husband, father, grandpa, and friend. He had a kind heart and was always there for his friends and family. Throughout his 80 years he touched many lives and will be sorely missed. He was also an avid Carolina Panthers fan (even this year) and never missed watching a game.

Visitation will be held at Reavis Funeral Home, 318 Davie Avenue, Statesville, N.C., from 12 to 2 p.m. on October 26, 2023, a memorial service will follow.
