Peter “Pete” Paul Gosselin, 82 of Mooresville, N.C., passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 25, 2023. He was born on March 13, 1941, in New Britain, Conn., to the late Canadian immigrants, Napoleon Lionel and Amabilis Fortier Gosselin.
The curtains have drawn on a towering figure among men. A man who shaped his children with grace, love, and compassion. Coming from one of the toughest generations of the times, he made sure to instill the values of honesty and integrity in them all. Gently guiding his family through good and bad times, he never left any doubt that you could be whatever you wanted to be as long as you loved what you do. (“You will never work a day in your life.”) As an old school gear head, he was a very talented mechanic, a lover of classic cars and racing. He would talk or work on cars whenever he could and attended classic car shows to share his stories with anyone who would listen. He was always up for racing, even his scooter, with any willing opponent. A passionate, competitive, innovative, conversationalist, and a true warrior of love and life.
He is survived by the love of his life, and wife of 54 years, Rosemarie DiBattista Gosselin.
Coming from a large family, he leaves his brothers Norman, Michael “Rick”, and sister Mary Jane (Mikulske). He was preceded in death by his sisters, Terry (Boulanger), Lorraine (Banks), and brothers David, and Jerry.
Creating a large family of his own, he leaves his sons, David, Paul and wife Bonnie (Gregoire), his daughters, Kathy (Lujan) and husband Joseph, Lori (Heaton) and husband Raymond, Tami, Dana (Sommer) and husband Jamie, and Tina (Berisha) and husband Abdullah. He was is preceded in death by his sons, Peter Jr. and Donald. He also leaves grandchildren, Natalie, Casey, Tyler, Crystal, Dale, Mark, Steven, Julia, Nicholas, Violet, Joey, Sami, Avery, Joshua, Kayla, Thomas, Ayden, Mylo, Adyson, and Aryana. Also surviving him are several great-grandchildren and dozens of nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 30, 2023, at St. Therese Catholic Church. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials will be made to Veterans Home (Richard’s Coffee Shop) or to the S. Mitchell Mack Hospice House.
