Rebecca “Becky” Jayne Pryor Gray, 85, of Statesville, N.C., passed away on Friday, June 2, 2023, at Brookdale Peachtree.
Rebecca was born on March 30, 1938, in Iredell County, daughter of the late Walter Maye Pryor and Ruby Wagner Pryor. She was a graduate of Troutman High School and a member at New Sterling ARP Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Bobby James Poole, Herbert Samuel Weintraub and Kenneth Andrew Gray; and her sister, Margaret Louise Barkley.
Rebecca is survived by her children, Bobby Delane Poole, Teryl Poole Whitmire (Buddy), and Trent Poole (Sandy), grandchildren, Bobby Whitmire (Rachel), Brittany Whitmire, and Maddison Poole (Casey); and great grandchildren, Owen Gray Whitmire and Georgia Nicole Trivette. Also surviving are her siblings, Catherine Pryor Stikeleather (JB) and Edward Pryor (Gilda), along with numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
In her early years, while raising her three children, she was a homemaker. Becky and Bobby opened a restaurant, Lakeview Lodge, and ran that for several years. Becky worked for Iredell County for several years before leaving to help Herb run Instant Printing until his death in December, 1985. After marriage to Kenneth, she assisted him on the farm as necessary. Becky loved flowers and plants and was a member of the Statesville Garden Club. She helped with the displays that were set up at the Iredell County Fairgrounds for several years. She also loved to play cards with her friends, the Goodmans, and later with Kenneth’s family.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 8, at Troutman Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Iredell Memorial Gardens, Rev. John Parks officiating. The family will visit with friends one hour prior to the service, from 1 to 2 p.m.
