Rella Sharpe Wilson, 96, of Statesville, N.C., passed away on Monday, April 25, 2023, at her home.
Rella was born on November 27, 1926, in Iredell County to the late John Ivey Sharpe Sr. and Janie Mae Dagenhart Sharpe. She attended Sharon High School and later married her late husband, Donald Harold Wilson, in 1946. She worked at Southern Bell for a number of years, where she met her husband, and later joined him as vice president of Wilson Security.
In addition to her parents and husband, Rella was preceded in death by a daughter, Marsha Ann Wilson Walden; son-in-law, Jerry Campbell; and siblings, Deloris King, Betty Moore, John Ivey “June” Sharpe Jr. and Rayford Sharpe.
Those left to cherish Rella’s memory include her daughter, Donna W. Campbell; son-in-law, Doug Walden; grandchildren, Sheriff Darren Campbell (Stacy), Dane Campbell (Tamalita), Dana Bell (Kevin), Ryne Walden, Elizabeth Dobson (Jordan); great grandchildren; Dylan Campbell, Holden Bell, Summer Bell, Addison Campbell, Graham Campbell, Lawson Campbell, Nova Dobson, and Lola Dobson; and great great grandchildren; Jason Campbell and Harper Campbell.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, April 27, 2023, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Bethel United Methodist Church. Funeral service will be conducted at 12:30 p.m., following the visitation, with Pastor Anne Tavenner and Hospice Chaplain Aaron Macemore officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Paulbearers will be Darren Campbell, Dane Campbell, Doug Walden, Ryne Walden, Jordan Dobson, Kevin Bell and Holden Bell. Honorary pallbearers will be Graham, Lawson and Jason Campbell.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625.
The family would like to give a special thanks to her caregivers, Nancy, Terri, Kelsey and Hospice staff, Rita Edwards and Chaplain Aaron Macemore.

I greatly enjoyed the nearly three years I got to spend in close fellowship with Mrs. Wilson. She will be missed.
