Rev. J. C. West of 226 Foursquare Road, Mooresville, N.C., passed away Saturday, June 17, 2023, at S. Mitchell Mack Hospice House in Mooresville.
Mr. West was born January 21, 1934, in Cabarrus County, the son of the late Robert Cleveland West and Vergie Maxa Fisher West.
He was a loving and hard-working husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a credentialed minister with the Church of God in Western North Carolina. Mr. West retired from Elox Corporation in Davidson, and previously served as a carpenter. He volunteered as a Nursing Home Minister for over 30 years. He was a graduate of Brawley High School.
Rev. West was a member of the Mooresville Church of God, where he served as a Sunday School teacher, Church Council member, and a member of the Choir. He enjoyed playing the guitar, singing, and ministering to individuals.
Those left to cherish and honor his memory include his sons, Marty West and Jeff West (Renee), both of Mooresville, N.C.; daughter, Sondra (Sandy) West Black (Norman) of Simpsonville, S.C.; grandchildren, Shannon West, Jeremy West (Regina) and Dillon West (Heather), Jessica Brawley (Trey), Eric West, Samantha West, Kory Black (Stacy) and Stefanie Lewis (Clay); great grandchildren, Macynn and Peyton Westmoreland, Bryce Reams, Destiny West, Presley Brawley, Brady Black, Zana Haney, and Maddox Black; sisters, Ruth Christenbury (Lee) and Shirley Snider (Ralph); and sister-in-law, Frances West (Henry); along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. West was predeceased by his first wife: Nancy Christenbury West; second wife: Peggy Overcash West; and siblings: Ruby Smith, Ann Moore, Ralph West, Henry West, Irene Malcom, and Geraldine Bailey.
A Visitation Service will be held on Thursday, June 22, 2023, from 1 to 1:45 p.m., followed by the Funeral Service at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Cavin-Cook Funeral Home, with Rev. Norman Black, Rev. Donnie Wise, and Rev. Frank Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Glenwood Memorial Park, Mooresville.
