Rita Carol Moore, 70, of Cleveland, N.C., passed away on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at Carolina Caring Hospice in Sherrills Ford, N.C. Born on June 25, 1953, in Iredell County, she was the daughter of the late William Smith Moore and Ruth Elizabeth Moore Lowery.

Rita had a passion for sewing and enjoyed listening to Gospel music on Sundays. She was a true animal lover who absolutely cherished her fur babies, Canela and Guardian. Rita also enjoyed eating pizza and Chinese food.

In addition to her parents, William Smith Moore and Ruth Elizabeth Moore Lowery, she was preceded in death by her sister, Shirley Jean Johnson; and brother, Robert Francis Moore.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Dwight Pitts Jr. (Doris); grandson, Christopher Aaron Pitts; great-grandchildren, William Pitts and Katherine Pitts; sisters, Ruth Anne Church, Mona Lisa Moore, and Roberta Faye Moore; her brother, Ricky Dale Moore (Penny); and her nieces and nephews.

A Graveside Service to Celebrate her Life will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 8, 2023, at Iredell Memorial Park.
