Ruth Vina Southern Shew, 88, of Troutman, N.C., passed away unexpectedly at her home on October 12, 2023.

Ruth was born December 16, 1934, in Wilkes County, N.C., and was the daughter of the late Luther Souther and Ethel Harris Souther. She attended Wilkes County Schools and was married to the late Lue Gene Shew.

She is survived by four children, Jackie Keller, Gene V. Shew, Melvin Shew, and Melody Upright; four grandchildren, Rusty Upright, Casey Upright, Beverly Farley, Allen Keller; eight great grandchildren; and seven great great grandchildren.

A private family service will be held at a later date.
