SM Barnette, 89, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on April 15, 2023. He was born on June 26, 1933, in Huntersville, N.C., to the late Stanhope and Eva Shinn Barnette.

SM was a charter member of Liberty Baptist Church, and he loved attending and serving there. He enjoyed working on small equipment and was well known in the community for his skills. He liked to hang out at Archer towing and just enjoyed being around other people. He was a very kind soul and wonderful husband and father. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, SM was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Barnette; sister, Vertie Lee Stegall; brothers, Willie Nance and James Nance; and all members of the Archer family who he considered to be his own family.

He is survived by his daughter, Cindy Roberts (Ricky); granddaughter, Hannah Follrod (Dalton); special nieces and nephews, Gina and David Terry, Aaron and Andrea Hardy, Gerald and Marsha Childress, Cathy and Bill Stewart, Vicki and Tom Childers, Kevin and Terri Johnson, Jerry and Sharon Archer, and Sandy Bell; and numerous other nieces, nephews and friends.

A Funeral Service will held at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at Liberty Baptist Church with Pastor Eddie Graham and Pastor Mike Burchette officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 4 to 5 p.m. Burial will immediately follow in the church cemetery.
