Sue Jolly Carter, 90, went to be with our Lord Monday, May 1, 2023. Sue was born on September 12, 1932 to the late William Stamey Jolly and Katie Carson Jolly.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She married her late husband, Herbert Carter, on February 5, 1955. They were together until his passing in 2012. Together they owned and operated RoTonda Restaurant for many years. Mr. and Mrs. Carter were long-time members of Cochran Street Baptist Church.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sons, Michael Todd Carter and Tony Rhyne Carter, and her siblings, Aaron Jolly, R.S. Jolly, Ethelene Campbell, Geneva Bunton and Atwell Jolly.

She is survived by her daughters, Robin Barker (Michael) and Tonda Trent (Smith); sisters, Emma Lou McCall and Elna Campbell; brothers, Bud Jolly and Harry Jolly; grandchildren, Kaylem Carter, Dana Price, Katie Harwell, Smith Trent IV, Claire Barker, and Philip Barker; great grandchildren, Lily Price, Zane Price, Isabell Price, Carson Harwell, Nolan Harwell, Ellis Harwell, Eva Carter, Alivia Carter, Anna Carter, and Archer Lake; and great, great grandson, Beau Arters.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at The Gardens of Statesville Assisted Living for the love and care they gave Mrs. Carter, and to Iredell County Hospice and Palliative Care.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 5, 2023, at Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor James Lewis officiating. Burial will follow at Iredell Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
