Virginia Clara Key Lackey, 92, passed away on Wednesday, May 10, 2023. She was born on May 7, 1931, to the late William Key and Mima Lee Reynolds Key in Wilkes County, N.C.

She married Kenneth B. Lackey on July 2, 1952, and they were together until his passing in 2009.

Virginia was a long-time member of Oakland Presbyterian Church in Statesville. She was a Sunday school teacher and involved in Cub Scouts. She also enjoyed being a Sales Rep for Avon and Stanley home products.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Mima Key; her husband, Kenneth B. Lackey; granddaughter, Brooke Lackey; four brothers; and one sister.

Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Kenneth B. Lackey (Pam) of Mooresville, C. Bradley Lackey (Carol) of Statesville, and J. Scott Lackey (Lauren) of Statesville; daughter, Leslie J. Lackey of Statesville; her grandchildren, Kyle, Erica, Tria, Amber, Tyler, Allison, and Cameron; her great-grandchildren, Alex, Lana, Emily, Carson, Conrad, Serenity, and Kaleb; and her sister, Mary K. Royal.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 15, 2023, at Oakland Presbyterian Church with Reverend Steven Snipes officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church beginning at 10 a.m. Burial will follow the funeral services in Oakwood Cemetery.
