William Lee Cody, 73, of Taylorsville, N.C., died Saturday, April 8, 2023, at Carolina Caring Catawba Valley Hospice House. He was born on January 31, 1950, in Cook County, Ill., to the late Edwin Cody and Bonnie Martin Cody. He was also preceded in death by a son, William “Billy” McDaniels.

William worked as an HVAC technician prior to his retirement. He enjoyed fishing and was an excellent artist, spending many hours sketching and painting. More than anything, he loved his family.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 33 years, Pam Shoemaker McDaniels Cody; two sons, Garland McDaniels (Kathy), and Jonathan McDaniels (Jessica); a daughter, Jeannie Nelson; eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and many other family members.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, April 22, 2023, at 3 p.m. at New Jerusalem Baptist Church, 1560 Nathaniel Street, Newton, NC 28658 with Rev. Lance Mitchell officiating.
