William Marcus Coble, 87, of Mount Pleasant, S.C., and a former longtime resident of Mooresville, N.C., entered eternal rest on Thursday, June 29, 2023. His graveside service with military honors will be held Monday, July 3, 2023, in Mooresville’s Glenwood Memorial Park at 11 a.m.
Marc was born September 24, 1935, in Mooresville, son of the late Scott Brown Coble and the late Maggie Sue Stiles Coble. He graduated from Mt. Ulla High School, Mt. Ulla, N.C., in 1953. He then joined the U.S. Air Force, where he served for 22 years before retiring in May 1976, having earned the rank of Master Sergeant. His second career was spent working in technology for the State of California for 18 years. He will be remembered for his easygoing manner, his willingness to do anything for anybody, and the way he loved his family.
Marc was preceded in death by his first wife of 28 years, Ruth Irene Steeprow Seits Coble. He later married a former high school classmate, Starr Starling Boyles Coble. They had been married for 19 years when she passed in 2016. He was also predeceased by a sister, Shannon Kimball, and stepchildren, Ken Steeprow and Martine Sahakangas. He is survived by his siblings Scott Coble of Charlotte and Susan “Pete” Larrimore of Ashville, N.C.; as well as his stepchildren, Letel Barber (Richard) and grandson Charlie of Santa Clara, Calif.; Robert Boyles Jr. (Liz) and grandson Andrew of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., and grandson Bobby of Bossier City, La.; and Tom Boyles (Bridget) and grandsons Alex and Jacob of East Bend, N.C.. He is also survived by stepdaughter Sandy Briley (Rick) of Jefferson, Ore., Georgene Haynes of Horizon City, Texas, and Teresa Voudoris (Steve) of Perio, Ariz.; along with 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
