William “Tom” Thomas Busby Jr., 77, of Statesville, N.C., passed away on Thursday, March 16, 2023, at the Gordon Hospice House. Born on September 6, 1945, in Jersey City, N.J., he was the son of the late William Thomas Busby Sr. and Dorothea Connor Busby.
Tom was a Veteran of the United States Navy where he was a stationed on the USS Constellation. During his service in the Navy, he was a Jet Mechanic. In his early career, Tom worked for Mack Truck in Summerville, N.J. He was a Union Carpenter with Local 455 in New Jersey until his retirement. Tom also held a North Carolina General Contractor’s License. He had a love for hunting and Mopars.
Tom was a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Thomas Busby Sr. and Dorothea Connor Busby. Those left to cherish his memory include the love of his life, whom he married on February 14, 1970, his wife, Kathleen Jacobsen Busby; son, Beau Busby; daughter, Leigh Ann Busby Huddleston and husband Grey; grandson, Evan Huddleston; sister, Ann Marie Busby; brothers, Robert “Bob” Busby and wife Erika, and Gary Busby and wife Julea; and several nieces and nephews.
