Mr. Willie Nathan Lawrence, 58, was born in Iredell County on March 8, 1965, to Melvin Nelson Parks and the late Emma Lucille Lawrence. He departed this life on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at Atrium Baptist Wake Forest Medical Center.
Willie attended Statesville City Schools and was affectionately known as “Pots n Pans” by his family and friends. He was employed as a cook at a local restaurant. He loved watching sports and especially liked the Carolina Panthers.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his siblings, April Lawrence, David Parks, Yohanna Parks, and Kenny Lawrence.
He leaves to cherish the memory of his life his wife, Carolyn S. Lawrence of the home; his father, Melvin Nelson Parks of Mooresville; one son, Lawrence (Shaqulla) Dobbins; special sons, Travis Lawrence, Cory Lawrence, Kenny Alexander, and Justin Alexander; five daughters, Lakesha Lawrence, Laquesha Lawrence, London Lawrence, Lamesha Lawrence, and Michell Alston, all of Statesville, N.C.; special daughter, Yasmine Lawrence; three brothers, James Lawrence and Melvin Parks, both of Statesville, N.C., and Linney McIntosh of Mooresville, N.C.; eight sisters, Pamela Lawrence, Shirley Lawrence, Patricia Rucker, Teresa Rankin (Kenya), Ruby (Brian) Woodberry, Linda Smyre, Betty Parks, and DeLisa Parks; uncle, Robert Parks; special aunt, Annette (Marvin) Daye of Lumberton; nieces and nephews, Kelis Carr, Lawrence Dobbins Jr., Lakia Edwards, Si’Mar Edwards, Ja’Cobi Phelps, Janicorei Phelps, Major Miller, Ba’Omi Lawrence, and Ja’Kayla Lawrence; and a host of other relatives, and friends.
