Albert Leon Hutchens, 84, passed away March 29, 2024, at his home. He was born August 13, 1939, in Iredell County to the late Toy Lee Hutchens and Nina Lee Stevensons Hutchens.

He was a member of Redemption Baptist Church for 50 years. He loved working in his yard, raising a garden, bear hunting, church and most of all family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Sylvia Fern Parsons Hutchens; and one brother, Roy Hutchins and wife Ethel.

Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter Linda Miller and husband Craig of Hiddenite; one sister, Sally Moose and husband Floyd; one grandson Jason Miller and wife Nicole of Hiddenite; four great grandchildren, R.J. and Josh Miller, and Nevaeh and Andy Fairburn; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held Monday April 1, 2024, at Chapman Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. A church service will be conducted on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at Redemption Baptist at 2 p.m. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. A burial will follow at the church cemetery. Rev. Roger Holland will officiate and Jason Miller will speak.
