Amanda Mary Lois Gray Brown, 92, gained her eternal wings on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at her home in Statesville, N.C., after a brief illness. She was born on February 28, 1931, to the late Juke and Maude Gray in Randolph County, N.C.

Amanda was an exceptional softball player and enjoyed fellowshipping with her beloved family. She was a member of St. John Baptist Church for many years and recently attended First Baptist Church in Lexington, N.C.

She was affectionately known as “Mandy” and was known for her kindness and loving personality. Amanda was a graduate of Morningside High School and was employed by Jantzen Sportswear for over thirty years.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frank Lee “Ike” Brown; sisters, Helen Gray Holt, Connie Gray Howell, and Betty Gray Renwrick; brothers, Walter Gray, Julius Gray, William Gray, Raymond Leslie Gray, James Gray, John Franklin Gray, and Clarence “Pap” Gray; granddaughter, Meca LaTree Brown; daughter-in-law, Lottie Ann Brown; nieces, Kathy Renwick, Brenda Gray, Pat Gray, and Margaret Ann Gray; nephews, Billy Gray, Earl Gray and Wayne Gray; and cousins, Ethelene Johnson (Jim), and Maggie Setzer.

She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Cynthia Brown of Snellville, Ga.; Jerry Franklin “Frankie” Brown, and Sheila Rollings; bonus children, Leslie Brown (Cordie Brown Matthews, Will Brown, Lawson Brown) and Carla Patterson (Nikkia Mcrae (James), Shakia Sharpe). Amanda is survived by a host or grandchildren, Portia Brown Johnson of Statesville, N.C., Natasha Brown Fraley (Vinson) of Snellville, Ga., Anya Scott-Holland (Scott) of Statesville, N.C., Nikkia Fain (Stacey) of Oklahoma, Tajh “TJ” Keaton (Ebony), of Statesville, N.C. and Ronnie Rollings Jr. (McKenzie) of Statesville, N.C.

Great-Grandchildren include Kayla Scott, Raven Brown (Emely), Jay Fraley, Raheem Roman (Elexus), Skylar Leigh Rollings, Qualin Keaton, Tajah Fraley, Destiny Scott, Alerica Johnson, Roderick Williams, Jr., Zy’Kere Mohammed, Ty’ja Green, Emani Green, Bryce Fraley, Tylan “Buddy” Keaton, Alex Fain, Brent Fain (Brittany), and Tyler Fain and bonus grand-grands, Scott Holland Jr., ShaQuelle Turner, Elijah Holland, and Aaron Holland; great-great grandchildren, Daven Scott-Jackson, Clea-Lee Levon Roman, Amoura Armani Elaine Wilson, Jude Fain, Lou Adams, Liam Holland.

Amanda leaves to cherish a host of special nieces, nephews, family members and friends, Lib Shuford, Doris Ann Brown, Pat Jourdan (John), Jasmine Jourdan, Denise Sharpe, Danny Renwick, Bradley Renwick, Rosaland Renwick, Larry Gray, Kathy Wells, Dolliether Daniels, Betty Daniels, Dolliether Scott, Larry Gray, Andre’ Gray, Penny Sharpe, and Shakeisha Boone (CJ) and family.

Celebration of Life Services will be conducted Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at 2:30 p.m. at Christian Outreach of the Piedmont. Bishop Glenn Usry is Pastor, Rev. Timothy Bates will officiate and Minister Alexander Shuford will eulogize. Burial will follow in the Belmont Cemetery.

Mrs. Brown will remain at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home until taken to the church to lie in state at 1 p.m. Members of the family will receive friends at the church from 1:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m., but will assemble at the residence at other times.
