Antonio “Tony” Ruiz Roman, 75, of Statesville, N.C., unexpectedly passed away August 25, 2024, at his home. Tony was born June 13, 1949 in Hatillo, Puerto Rico, to the late Ignacio Ruiz and Rosa Roman.

He was a member of Calvary Baptist and worked as a chef at Disney World.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two grandsons, Christian and Michael Zemaitis.

Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Toni Ann Roman of the home; five daughters, Laura Ann Pitts, Wendy Gayle Waugh and husband Tony, Denise Roman, Leah Roman and Christina Roman; three brothers, Juan, Ernesto and Pedro Ruiz; three sisters, Louisa Ruiz Roman, Aida Rosa Ruiz Santiago and Nelida Ruiz Borrero; nine grandchildren, Jeramiah, Elijah, Jamie, Skylar, Brayden, Lindsey, Paige, Parker and Nichalos; and eight great grandchildren Neveah, Liliana, Sean, Brileeh, Jenavah, Caleb, Colton and Jade.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at 5 p.m. at Chapman Funeral Home. Pastor Jonathon Brown will officiate. Amy, Briana, Abby and Tyler brown will be singing.
