Barbara Ann “Beadie” Lackey, 73, of Hiddenite, N.C., went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 17, 2024. She was born March 25, 1951 in Amonate, Va., to the late Dewey Spears and Effie Parks Puckett. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her youngest daughter, Lena Lackey, and numerous brothers and sisters.

Barbara leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 57 years, Henry Lackey; daughters, Judy Keffer and Heather Torrence (David); grandchildren: Austin Keever, Emily Murray (Nickolas), Sevana Keffer, Stephanie Torrence (Skylar), Kirsten Palfrey (Jake), Grayson and Kaymeron Torrence, and Alexis Lackey; great-grandchildren, Brooklynn, Eliza, and Ezekiel Murray, Alistair, Calder, Evander, Fletcher, and Ollen, Lena Martinez, and Oakley Palfrey; and siblings, Judy Smith and Neal Spears.

Barbara was the matriarch of her family. She didn’t know a stranger and when it came to kids, her house was always full. She was a loving Mom and Mamaw to many. She was also a business owner for 10 years, operating a cleaning service. In 1999, she and her husband Henry retired and relocated back to Hiddenite, where they have enjoyed the past 25 years.

Above all, her greatest joy came from spending time with her family and making memories with those close to her heart. She dearly loved her family and friends. Barbara was a wonderful Wife, Mother, Mamaw, Great-Mamaw, Aunt, and Sister and leaves a legacy of love and dedication that will continue on in perpetuity.

A private gathering will be held in her memory.

Chapman Funeral Home is serving the Lackey family.
