Mrs. Betty Jean Smyre Robinson, 81, of Statesville, N.C., was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 26, 2024, at her residence. She was born in Iredell County, N.C., on February 11, 1943, and was the daughter of the late James Filmon Smyre and Evelyn Redmond Smyre. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Charlie Robinson. Betty Jean, who was affectionately known as “Maggie,” was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Ralph S. Smyre, Allen Wayne Smyre and James Smyre.

She leaves to cherish the memories of her life her loving husband, Charlie Robinson; a daughter, Charlene Robinson of the home; a son, Bryant (Keisha) Howell of Charlotte, N.C.; five siblings, Jo-Evelyn Summers, Annie Eckles, Helen (Leanord) Byers, Roy Smyre and Ricky (Theresa) Smyre; two sisters-in-law, Norma Jean Smyre and Darlene Smyre.; grandchildren, Tatiyana Robinson and Chardnay Robinson, both of Statesville, Brianna Howell and Deslie Howell, and Kezia M. Howell and Micheal Howell, all of Charlotte, and Kayla Scott of Statesville; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends to cherish her memories.

A celebration of life service will be conducted on Friday, August 2, 2024, 1 p.m. at Rutledge and Bigham Mortuary. Burial will follow at the Belmont Cemetery. The Repass will be held at 1605 Bristol Road Community Center, Statesville, N.C., for family and close friends.
