Betty Jo Cooper Richards, 84, of Cleveland, N.C., passed away on Friday, November 15, 2024. She was born on May 5, 1940, in Gaffney, S.C., to the late Walter Ervin Cooper and Lois Tucker Cooper.

Betty worked at Laney’s Fish Camp for 20 years. She also worked at Draymore Manufacturing, Troutman Shirt Company, and delivered the Charlotte Observer.

Her greatest joy was her grandchildren, and most importantly she watched over her grandchildren. Family was everything to her. She will be greatly missed.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Franklin Richards Jr.; five sisters, and two brothers.

Those left to cherish Betty’s memory are her daughters, Amber Church (David), Mildred Autry (Russell), and Barbara Treadway (Scott); special friend, Jose Araya; sisters, Melinda Benfield and Mabel Benton; grandchildren, Steve, Amanda, Robert, Amy, Jimmy, Justin, and Victoria; and great grandchildren, Bryson, Kaylah, Mason, Katie, Carson, and Kenzlee.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at Abundant Life Foursquare Church with Rev. David Giles officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.
