“Betty Jo” White Gamble Moore, 93, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on Friday, May 31, 2024, at Gordon Hospice House in Statesville, N.C. She was born on January 28, 1931, in Mecklenburg County, N.C., to the late Ralph Alcorn White and Mary Lucy Robbins White.

Betty Jo was the Executive Director of Environmental Services at University Hospital in Charlotte. She loved to do crafts, sewing, and painting. Betty Jo enjoyed cooking and baking, especially during the holidays; she was known for her candied yams. She made many wedding cakes over the years. She also enjoyed her plants and traveling.

Betty Jo loved her family and will be greatly missed.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Thomas Reid Gamble and William Coe Moore; daughters, Kathy “Kat” Ballard and Jane Gamble; and brother, Ralph Robbins White.

Those left to cherish Betty Jo’s memory are her children, Elizabeth Gamble Bowers (Earl), Frank Gamble (Susan), Pat Barnette (Danny), and Nancy Baldwin (David); sister, Martha Coffman; grandchildren, Derrick Hager, Jessica Robertson, Johnny Bowers, Heather Bowers, Kari Welborn, Cody Ballard, Betty Rockwell, Casey Ballard, Hunter Baldwin, and Taylor Baldwin; and 10 great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 7, 2024, at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in Troutman with Rev. Todd McCullough officiating.

The family will receive friends prior to the memorial service from 1 to  2 p.m. at the church. Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at the Bethel Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Cornelius.
