Betty Tilley, 87, of Statesville, N.C., passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at her home. She was the wife of the late Delbert Tilley, who preceded her in death in 2011, and the daughter of the late Columbus Alexander and Emma Greene Harrington Daniels.
She attended Hiddenite High School and worked as a seamstress for Thomasville Upholstery. She was a member and former Sunday School teacher at Sandy Ridge Methodist Church. Along with her love for her church, she also loved being involved in the lives of the children of her community and working her crafts.
In addition to her husband and her parents, she was also preceded in death by all 12 of her brothers and sisters and her loving mother-in-law, Ruth Tilley.
Betty is survived by three daughters, Margaret (Rick) Lewis, Phyllis Boyd-Vanhoy, and Benita Tilley; and twin sons, Barry Tilley and Terry (Parianne) Tilley. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, granddaughter, Bridgette (Danny) Lippard, grandsons, David (Amber) Boyd, Colby (Ginny) Lewis, Tyler (Ali) Lewis, Landon Tilley, Koby Tilley, and Dustin (Valley) McGlamery; and granddaughter, Hailey McGlamery. Eleven great grandchildren also survive, great grandsons, Cole (Kirsten) Lippard, Spike Boyd, and Blake Boyd, great granddaughter, Kaitlyn McGlamery, great grandson, Asher Shell, great granddaughters, Gracie Gryder and Kodie McGlamery, great grandsons, Nash, Teague and Truett Lewis, and great granddaughter, Emma Lewis, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at 2 p.m. at Sandy Ridge Methodist Church with Rev. Mark Reavill officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at Troutman Funeral Home from 6 until 8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Betty’s memory to Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625 or to Sandy Ridge Methodist Church, 2433 Falcon Lane, Statesville, NC 28625.
