Billy Ray Chapman, 59, of Statesville, N.C., away August 28, 2024, at UNC Blue Ridge Health following an extended illness. He was born May 16, 1965, in Chicago, Ill., to the late Billy Ray Chapman and Carolyn Cookie Dotson of Statesville.

In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by his father-in-law, Ralph Dancy, and his stepfather, Clark Dotson.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Sherry Dancy of the home; one son, Aaron of Statesville; one daughter, Stephanie, of Raleigh; and one brother, Danny Dotson of Statesville.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, September 7, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 106 Trinity Road, Statesville NC 28625. Pastor Frank Horvath will officiate.
