Billy Wayne “Bill” Robinson 82, of Taylorsville, N.C., passed away unexpectedly at his home on January 19, 2024. Bill was born March 20, 1941, in Alexander County, N.C., to the late William Glenn and Jettie Mae Williams Robinson.
Bill was a self-employed farmer, truck driver, and also an upholsterer. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. He enjoyed Bluegrass music whether playing, singing, or traveling to festivals. He was a founding member of the Sugar Loaf Ramblers.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Loretta Harrington Robinson; one son, Eric Wayne Robinson; three brothers, and four sisters.
Those left to cherish his memory include his two daughters, Crystal R. Sherrill and husband Jody of Stony Point and Mary R. Moore and husband James of Taylorsville; one son, Jonathan Robinson and wife Memori of Taylorsville; a very special friend, Linda S. Wike; one sister, Brenda Matlock and husband Conley of Statesville; twelve grand-children and seventeen great-grand-children with two on the way; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Rev. Lander Heafner, Rev. Tim Jolly, and Rev. Joel Simpson will officiate. A burial will follow at the church cemetery. Family will receive friends Monday, January 22, 2024, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Pallbearers include Perry Fowler, Brennan Moore, Weston Sherrill, Cody Robinson, Heath Dagenhart, and Hunter Dagenhart. Honorary Pallbearers include Elbert Harrington, Kenny Harrington, Travis Treadway, Gerald Treadway, Tony Tevepaugh, and Allen Miller.
