Bobby Gene Blackwood, 82, Mooresville, N.C., went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at the VA Medical Center in Salisbury, N.C.

He was born on May 11, 1941, to the late Ray E. Blackwood and Gracie Heathcock Blackwood. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Sandy L. McFadden; brothers, Harold R. Blackwood, Paul Blackwood, Carrol Blackwood, and Jeff Blackwood; and sisters, Nina Sisson and Linda Burnett.

Bobby enjoyed being out on the road traveling, eating ice cream and hamburgers, and watching NASCAR racing. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren and family. He was in the Navy and proudly served his country in the Cuban crisis.

Bobby is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Helen R. Blackwood; daughters, Debra Hawley of Mooresville, N.C., Susan Stauffer of Granger, Ind., and Sharon Hochstetler of Goshen, Ind.; sisters, Joyce Baldwin of Ridgeland, Miss., Dorothy Fuller of Pearl, Miss., and Judy Blackwood of Bryan, Miss.; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews all very loved by Bobby.
