Brenda Jane Josey Walker, beloved wife, mother, sister, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 7, 2024, at the age of 81.
She was predeceased by her parents, David Sidney Josey and Nellie “Nell” Mae Westmoreland Josey, as well as her loving husband of 55 years, Harry Lee Walker Jr.
In addition to her parents and husband, Brenda was preceded in death by her siblings, Lonnie Ray Josey, David Richard Josey, Harold Clay Josey, Don Carlton Josey, and Mary Nell Josey Thompson.
Brenda will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her children, Angela “Angie” Marie Walker Nicolini (Peter) of Bluffton, S.C., and Sydney Renee Walker of Statesville, N.C. She was a cherished grandmother to Emma Caroline Nicolini and Max Walker Nicolini; as well as two sisters, Patricia (Tinnie) Ann Josey, and Vickie Elaine Josey Rufty.
With heavy hearts, we bid farewell to a remarkable woman whose life was a testament to dedication, strength, and unwavering commitment to service. Her adult life was defined by her tireless efforts in service to her community, particularly through her lifelong dedication to the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Her unwavering commitment to this noble cause touched the lives of many, as she worked tirelessly to provide aid, comfort, and assistance to veterans and their families. Her compassion knew no bounds, and she approached every task with determination and grace, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Beyond her remarkable volunteerism, Brenda was a pillar of strength for her family and friends. Her boundless love, wisdom, and kindness enriched the lives of those around her, serving as a beacon of hope and inspiration.
Let us carry forward her spirit of service and compassion, and strive to make a positive difference in the lives of others, just as she did.
The family will receive friends Friday, April 12, 2024, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home.
A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2024, in the Chapel of Bunch Johnson Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625, or to Lonely Children’s Fund, 1361 Caldwell Street, Statesville, NC 28677, in honor of Brenda Walker’s lifelong commitment to serving others.
