Bruce Eugene Pope, 83, of Statesville, N.C., passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 15, 2024, at his son’s home following a lengthy illness.

He was born in Iredell County on September 9, 1941, to the late Carl Pope and Tressie Sigmon Pope.

He is further survived by Barbara Loftin, the mother of his children; two brothers, Dale Pope (Nancy) and Lanny Pope (Carol); and four sisters, Denise Neighbors, Pansy McIntosh, Gladys Brown (Larry), and Carla Ann Woodie (Tony).

A graveside service will be held Thursday, September 19, 2024, at 1 p.m. at Bethel Methodist Church with Pastor Jeff Carson officiating. The family will visit with friends Wednesday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at Nicholson Funeral Home.

The family would like to thank his caregiver, Elizabeth Pope, who kept him comfortable in his final days.
