Buddy Gray Bray, 80, of Troutman, N.C., passed away on Thursday, December 5, 2024, in Winston-Salem, N.C. He was born on August 20, 1944, in Yadkin County to Columbus Bray and Mattie Nance Bray.
After serving in the U.S. Air Force for four years, Buddy went on to work at Hi-Tec Plating, Inc. in Statesville, from where he eventually retired. He enjoyed working outside, and especially loved cruising on Lake Norman.
Buddy was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Brenda Shorts Bray; brother, Larry Bray; and sister, Dorry Honeycutt.
He is survived by his son, Justin Bray (Kristy) of Hamptonville; daughter, Andrea Bray Scales (Toby) of Troutman; stepson, Michael Therrien of Palm Springs, Calif.; grandchildren, Caylen and Chase Scales; brothers, William Bray and David Bray; sister, Fairy Brast (Lester); Deb Nantz and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. He is also survived by his beloved dog, Mila, and three grand dogs, Cullen, Chloe, and Carlos.
The family will receive friends on Friday, December 13, 2024, from 6 until 8 p.m. at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home in Statesville.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at 1 p.m. in the Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Coleman Curry will be officiating. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Church Cemetery in Mooresville.
Donations in Buddy’s memory may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or to Shady Grove Baptist Church in Boonville.
